Record-Setting Season for Boston
The Boston Celtics capped off a historic season by defeating the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 in Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Monday to claim their 18th NBA championship.
The Celtics dominated the series from start to finish, winning all four games in impressive fashion. They were led by Jayson Tatum, who averaged 27.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game in the Finals.
The Celtics' victory was their second in three years, and it marked the return of the Larry O'Brien Trophy to Boston for the first time since 2008.
Historic Season for Celtics
The Celtics' championship victory capped off a record-setting season for the franchise.
They finished the regular season with an NBA-best 80-21 record, which tied the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls for the best record in NBA history.
The Celtics also set a new NBA record for winning percentage in a single season, finishing with a .792 winning percentage.
Kristaps Porzingis Returns to Celtics
In other Celtics news, the team announced on Monday that forward Kristaps Porzingis is expected to return to the lineup for the start of the 2024-25 season.
Porzingis, who was acquired by the Celtics from the Dallas Mavericks in February 2023, missed the entire 2023-24 season with a torn ACL.
The Celtics are hopeful that Porzingis' return will help them remain one of the top contenders in the NBA next season.
